SBI Photo Upload Guidelines
- Photo must be a recent colour photograph on a white background, taken within the last 3 months.
- Your face, both ears, and shoulders should all be visible in the photo.
- No dark glasses, sunglasses, or tinted lenses. Regular prescription glasses are fine.
- No head coverings except for religious reasons, and even then the face must be completely visible.
- The photo cannot be clicked in a police uniform if you're applying from a law enforcement background.
- The name of the candidate and the date should ideally be written at the bottom of the physical photo printout (for copies you bring on exam day).
- Do not edit or crop the photo disproportionately. The face should look natural.
SBI Photo Upload Common Errors
- Uploading a PNG file instead of JPEG. The SBI portal checks the file type and rejects non-JPEG files.
- Photo file size over 50KB. This is the most common reason for the upload failing.
- Photo file size under 20KB. A very compressed blurry image is also rejected.
- Using a very old photo from years ago. The interviewer compares your current appearance with the photo.
- Dimensions wrong. If you resize proportionally without targeting 200x230 exactly, the portal may reject it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the SBI PO photo size in KB?
SBI PO requires a JPEG photo with a file size between 20KB and 50KB, at 200x230 pixels. Both the lower and upper limits matter. A photo under 20KB is too compressed, and over 50KB won't upload.
Is the SBI Clerk photo size different from SBI PO?
No, both SBI PO and SBI Clerk use the same photo specifications: 200x230 pixels, JPEG format, 20KB to 50KB. The signature requirements are also identical for both exams.
Can I use the same photo for SBI and IBPS?
Yes. Both SBI and IBPS use the same photo dimensions (200x230 px) and similar file size ranges (20-50KB). A photo that meets SBI requirements will work for IBPS as well, as long as it's JPEG and within the size range.
What is the SBI PO signature size?
The SBI PO signature image should be 140x60 pixels in size with a file size between 10KB and 20KB in JPEG format on white paper. Use our signature size tool to resize it correctly.
How many photos do I need for the SBI PO process?
Keep at least 6 to 8 copies of the same passport photo you uploaded. You'll need them for the Preliminary exam center, Mains exam, Group Exercise and Interview, and document verification. All must be the same photo.
My SBI photo upload shows a file size error. What should I do?
Use the two-step process on this page. Resize first to 200x230 px, then compress to 45KB using the tool above. This keeps you safely within the 20-50KB range.
