SSC Signature Size Requirements for All Exams

After you upload your photo on the SSC registration form, the next field asks for your scanned signature. This is your handwritten signature on white paper, scanned or photographed and then resized to fit SSC specifications. Getting this right is just as important as the photo.

How to Scan Your Signature for SSC Forms

  1. Take a plain white A4 sheet. Sign your name in black or blue ink using a pen (not pencil). Keep the signature within a 6cm x 2cm area.
  2. Place the sheet near a window or bright light. Take a clear photo using your phone camera. Make sure there are no shadows across the signature.
  3. Transfer the image to your computer or use this tool directly on your phone.
  4. Use our Crop Image tool to crop tightly around your signature, removing extra white space.
  5. Upload the cropped signature above and click Resize Image to get it to 140x60 pixels.
  6. Then go to our Reduce to 20KB tool and compress the resized image to under 20KB.
  7. Upload the final file to the SSC portal. Done.

Why Does SSC Need a Signature Upload?

The signature you upload during registration is used on your admit card and is cross-checked during document verification after the exam. This is to confirm that the candidate attending the exam is the same person who registered. Make sure your uploaded signature matches the one you will physically sign on the attendance sheet at the exam center.

SSC Signature Upload Common Mistakes

  • Uploading the signature in PNG format. SSC only accepts JPEG.
  • File size above 20KB. This is the most common upload failure.
  • Signature too small in the frame because you did not crop tightly before resizing.
  • Blurry signature due to shaky hands while photographing.
  • Signature done on lined or ruled paper showing background lines.
  • Using pencil instead of ink for the signature.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the SSC signature size in pixels and KB?

SSC requires the signature image to be 140x60 pixels in size and between 10KB and 20KB in file size, in JPEG format only.

Can the SSC signature background be grey or cream?

Technically SSC asks for white background, but light off-white or cream is generally accepted. Avoid colored or patterned backgrounds entirely.

What if my SSC signature looks too small after resizing to 140x60?

This means you did not crop tightly enough before resizing. Go back, crop the image to just around your signature with minimal white border, then resize again. The signature should fill most of the 140x60 frame.

Can I use a digital signature for SSC?

No. SSC requires a handwritten signature on white paper, scanned or photographed. Digital or typed signatures are not accepted and will cause issues during verification.

Should my SSC photo signature and real signature look the same?

Yes. Try to sign the same way on the form as you did for the upload. Inconsistencies can raise flags during identity verification at the exam center.

Can I use the same signature for multiple SSC exams?

Yes, as long as the signature file meets all the requirements for each specific exam. Check the notification for each exam before uploading just to be safe.
